Converge or concede means every person as well as their organizations must be fluent within the web integration of this world. They must also do their job, better than millions of new ,remote competitors for the same wage. The layer of convergence that each individual experiences  is disguised by the auto pilot  nature of devices used to connect everyone.
Students archive class work, notes, projects, lectures and peer to peer discussions. Instead of maintaining binders, notebooks, backpacks, index cards, cheat sheets, etc. they save helpful links to relevant information. Theoretically, the regular visitation for organization and gathering purposes sustains a continual learning thread that lives in their email.
Employees log in and out, instead of punching a clock. These timestamps are stored indefinitely inside an employee file. labor hours are never in question ,nor are the real time earnings, deductions  benefits status.Employees who carry devices or perform web based duties are tracked, monitored and mapped via camera usage, text messaging and g.p.s. sensors. The average employer can even analyze off the clock activities if the device is company issued.
These examples are meant to remind readers that every employer expects all  future employees, current students perhaps, to be more productive
,punctual and accountable for their performance.

Many MOOCs (including this one) are created for a broad general audience: maybe you have some background in Information Science, and if so, great! But I wanted to create this course to be accessible even to students with no Information Science background. Which is why unit 1 was so long: I tried to fill in some of that background. And hopefully pique your interest in Information Science! But now that that background is background, we'll start building on it. In unit 2, we will look at our first ex...
